Ribbon Candy

I loaded one of my own quilts and began the quilting process.  I decided to do some swirls and ribbon candy.  The quilt is very directional.  I can do ribbon candy when it is back and forth but not up and down, so I am taking this off and reloading it so I can finish the layers of ribbon candy.

  1. very pretty quilting indeed, I've never been able to successfully turn a partly quilted quilt on my frame, so have learned to do ribbon candy on the up and back down again too :) needs must!

    1. Reloading a quilt is a challenge. I had to make sure I had everything else sewn before taking it off. When I put it on I use the quilt top centers as my reference points, not the backing centers. For me it is better than doing ribbon candy or any border on the up and down with all those starts.

  2. Beautiful quilting. Did you two pieces of batting? I love your ribbon candy.

    1. Thanks Teresa. I only used one layer of Hobbs 80/20. The quilt is 72x72 and I was afraid it would be too heavy if I used a double layer.
